This exhibit tells the story of the Chinese in the Sunset. Excluded from the Sunset for generations – in the 1960s Chinese Americans began buying homes and opening businesses in the Sunset. Today the neighborhoods of Oceanview – Carville – Parkside – Dolgerville – and Outer Sunset – which constitute Supervisor’s District 4 – are often referred to as the third Chinatown of San Francisco.
